The Old Course

The oldest and most iconic golf course in the world. The Swilcan Bridge and Hell Bunker are recognised across the globe, yet the greatest feature of the Old Course is that despite its grand status it remains a public golf course, open to all.

How to Book The Old Course

  • The Old Course Ballot - you may enter online, by phone on +44 (0)1334 466666 or in person by visiting The Old Pavilion or one of our Clubhouses. More details about the ballot can be found here.
  • Single golfers - if you are a single golfer you can check in at the Old Pavilion on the day of play (in person) and the staff may be able to join you with a two or three-ball group.
  • Authorised Providers - Local Providers may be able to provide you with a tee time. Please contact us to enquire.

The New Course

The oldest ‘new’ course in the world, the second course at the Home of Golf was built by the Keeper of the Green, Tom Morris in 1895 and it was imaginatively named to differentiate from its famous neighbour. Boasting undulating fairways and challenging greens, the New Course is a classic test of links golf.

Advance bookings for the New Course (min two golfers) can be made at least two days ahead and the full green fee is payable in advance. Please note: Saturday tee times are allocated on a first come first served basis and can only be arranged by approaching the Starter on the day you want to play.

The Eden Course

Only slightly more forgiving than its contemporaries on the seaward side of the Links, the Eden Course was built in 1914 by Harry S. Colt whose use of natural boundaries and severe bunkers provides a course full of character.

Please contact our Reservations Team by email or by calling +44 (0)1334 466 718. Saturdays can be booked two or more days in advance from 2pm onwards only (daylight permitting). Prior to 2pm can only be arranged 24hrs in advance by calling 01334 466666 from 8am (November-February) or from 7am (March-October).

The Jubilee Course

The third championship course at the Home of Golf, the Jubilee is considered by many to be the most challenging course on the famous Links. Built in 1897, it was originally intended for use by ladies was converted to a championship layout in 1988

The Strathtyrum Course

Designed to complement the tougher championship layouts at the Home of Golf, the Strathtyrum was opened in 1993. Although few in number (15), the bunkers are cunningly placed and there is considerable emphasis on iron play accuracy.

The Castle Course

The newest addition to St Andrews Links, The Castle Course opened in 2008 becoming the seventh course at the Home of Golf and part of the largest public golfing complex in Europe. Set on a rugged cliff-top with spectacular views over St Andrews, The Castle Course offers a memorable golfing experience.

The Balgove Course

The Balgove is the only nine-hole course at the Home of Golf and primarily caters for families, children and beginners. Featuring bunkers and a double green, the Balgove is the perfect practice ground for links golf and consolidates St Andrews Links’ reputation as a destination that caters for all ages and abilities.

The nine-hole Balgove is our only course which cannot be booked in advance. If you wish to play, simply turn up on the day.

The Kittocks Course (Fairmont)

Designed by Bruce Devlin, The Kittocks is a long and challenging course requiring nerves of steel to navigate its many holes running alongside the coastline. It’s famously played host to Europro Tournament 2007 and 2009 and Scottish Youths National Championship 2016.

The Torrance Course (Fairmont)

Designed by former Ryder Cup and golfing legend Sam Torrance, The Torrance is marked by its deep revetted bunkers, large greens and links design. The Torrance has hosted the Seniors European Tour Event six times between 2009 and 2014, and continues to offer an enjoyable golfing experience.

Kingsbarns

Kingsbarns is situated 7 miles from St Andrews along 1.8 miles of picturesque North Sea coastline, where each hole embraces the sea. Kingbarns has been labelled a Worldwide Top 100 ranked course and co-hosts the annual European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship together with the Old Course at St Andrews and Carnoustie Golf Links. In 2017 Kingsbarns hosted The Ricoh Women’s British Open.

The 2020 season is open from the 28th March until the 8th November.

Balcomie Links, Crail

A combination of stunning coastal views, centuries of history and hugely enjoyable golf is what makes Balcomie Links one of Scotland's most finely polished, golfing gems.This traditional, classic links course was laid out by the old master himself, Tom Morris, and opened in 1895.
